Cookie Policy
Effective Date: August 29, 2025
This Cookie Policy explains how Aureus Foundations (“Aureus,” “we,” “us,” “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our websites and online services (collectively, the “Services”). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy https://globaleducationfoundations.org/privacy-policy-2/.
1) What are cookies and similar technologies?
- Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser.
- Local storage and session storage are browser-based technologies that store data on your device.
- Pixels, beacons, and tags are tiny snippets of code that load when you visit a page or open an email and help measure usage.
- SDKs may be used in mobile apps (if applicable) to enable features and analytics.
These technologies help our Services function, keep them secure, remember your preferences, and understand how people use them.
2) What we use (categories)
We group technologies by purpose. Specific tools and providers may change over time.
- Strictly necessary – required to operate the site and keep it secure (for example, load balancing, session management, fraud prevention, cookie consent storage). These cannot be switched off through our preference tools.
- Functional – remember choices you make (such as language or region) and enhance features.
- Analytics & performance – help us understand how the Services are used (for example, page views, navigation flows, and error diagnostics) so we can improve content and usability.
- Media & embeds – enable third-party content you choose to view (for example, video players, maps, or social embeds). These third parties may set their own cookies when content loads.
We do not use cookies or similar technologies for cross-site behavioral advertising and we do not enrich cookie-collected data with data brokers for advertising purposes. If our practices change, we will update this Policy and provide controls.
3) Your choices
- A) Our cookie banner & preferences
On your first visit (and periodically thereafter), you’ll see a banner where you can Accept all, Reject non-essential, or Manage settings. You can change your choices anytime via the Cookies pop-up.
- Non-essential cookies (Functional, Analytics & performance, Media & embeds) are used only after you make an affirmative choice, where consent is required.
- Your preference record is stored so we can honor your choices and typically retained for 12 months, after which we may ask you again.
- B) Browser & device controls
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and control permissions for local storage and site data. If you block strictly necessary technologies, some parts of the Services may not work properly.
- C) Signals from your browser
Where applicable, we recognize browser-level opt-out preference signals (for example, signals indicating you wish to opt out of certain tracking or targeted advertising). If your browser sends a recognized signal, we will treat it as a valid request for that browser.
4) Third-party content, tools, and links
Some pages include content or features from third parties (for example, embedded videos, maps, or social features). When you engage with those features, the third party may set or read its own cookies and similar technologies. We do not control how those third parties use their technologies; please review their policies.
If you prefer not to load third-party content that may set cookies, you can decline the relevant category in Cookie Settings, use browser controls, or avoid interacting with that content.
5) What data is collected via these technologies?
Depending on the category, technologies may collect:
- Device and browser information (for example, type, version, settings)
- Mobile app and device identifiers (including any Mobile Advertising IDs, if present) used only for product analytics and diagnostics (for example, crash reports, understanding feature usage) and not for advertising, retargeting, or creating cross-app behavioral profiles.
- Log data (for example, page URLs, timestamps, referrers, error codes)
- Usage metrics (for example, pages viewed, time on page, scroll depth, click paths)
- Approximate location (city/region inferred from IP) used only for fraud prevention, service integrity (e.g., abuse detection), and basic analytics—never for precise geolocation or targeted advertising.
- A unique ID so we can recognize your browser between visits
We do not store sensitive personal data in cookies or local storage (for example, government IDs, financial account numbers, full payment card numbers, health data, or precise geolocation).
For how we handle personal information more generally, see our Privacy Policy https://globaleducationfoundations.org/privacy-policy-2/.
6) How long do cookies last?
- Session technologies expire when you close your browser.
- Persistent technologies remain for a defined period and then expire automatically.
Unless a shorter period is stated in our Cookie Settings, our typical lifespans are:
- Strictly necessary: up to 12 months
- Functional: up to 12 months
- Analytics & performance: up to 18 months
- Media & embeds: up to 12 months
- Preference record (your consent choices): 12 months
Third parties may set their own durations. You can view or change active settings at any time via the Cookies pop-up.
7) Who sets the cookies?
- First-party technologies are set by Aureus.
- Third-party technologies are set by others when their features appear on our pages or when we use their services (for example, security, analytics, video players).
We update our implementations periodically. For a current list of the primary technologies in use (including provider names and typical lifespans), see the list.
- Google Analytics
8) Managing analytics
We use analytics to understand how people use our Services. Where consent is required, analytics will run only after you enable that category. Some providers also offer their own browser add-ons or opt-out mechanisms; you can use those in addition to our Cookie Settings.
9) Email pixels (if you subscribe)
Our newsletters may include a small image that lets us know whether an email was opened and helps us measure engagement (for example, links clicked). You can disable images in your email client or unsubscribe at any time by using the link in the message.
10) Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Please check this page periodically.
